A short drive from the Highland market town of Dingwall
lies beautiful Loch Ussie, a haven rich in wildlife. Dominated by the
historic hill fort of Knockfarrel, the loch is fringed by native woodland
with typical highland land uses such as crofting, farming and forestry
beyond. Forming part of the Seaforth Estate, the Loch is two and a half
miles (4km) WNW of Maryburgh, in Ross and Cromarty. Turn right off the
A835 between Maryburgh and Contin and follow the road. Totalling 4000
acres (1618 ha) the Seaforth Estate is set amongst breathtaking scenery,
rich in the flora and fauna of the Scottish Highlands.
The Estate offers self-catering
accommodation and pike fishing in Loch Ussie; trout fishing in the
River Conon and a stocked trout loch. For more information on Fishing
on the Seaforth Estate, see the fishing page.
