Walks around Seaforth, River Conon WalkBACK TO WALKING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES |
Posts marked with a coloured
band indicate the route to follow for each walk. All the walks include a
section along the river bank where you will not be walking on paths and,
as the ground is sometimes quite wet in places, you are advised to wear
waterproof footwear. The posts will guide you across fields and through areas of damp alder woodland (with footbridges across the wettest places). In contrast to the rugged landscape typical of most of the Highlands, the scenery here is gentle, reflecting the fertile alluvium (river- transported sediment) which forms the flat valley floor. The major land use is stock grazing and arable farming with coniferous forestry on the steep valley sides. |
||
This tells you a little about the River Conon and some of the plants and animals you may see as you follow the green, red, yellow or blue walks. Three of the walks start at the car parking area on the river bank beside the Moy Island footbridge (to get here follow the road down past Easter Moy farm and take the first turning to the right which goes down steeply to the river bank). |
NUMBERED CIRCLES in the margin indicate points (marked
on the map) where the features of interest referred to can be seen. |
